IA Cat´s Dream´s work started in January 2021 in Tapada das Necessidades, Lisbon to care for the 50+ cats living there. We were successful in neutering the cats that hadn’t yet been neutered, and treating and curing the cats that had serious health issues. We have treated all sorts of infections, tumors, complications with eyes, skin issues, and continue to treat and care for the cats and keep them all up-to-date on internal and external parasite medication. With a team of volunteers we are able to provide food and fresh water every day of the year. We provide foster care for cats in need of surgery or medical treatment, as well as cats who we feel would do well in homes. After vaccinations and a slow adaptation process almost all foster cats have been able to go and live happily in a home with a loving family. Apart from our work at Tapada das Necessidades, we have also taken our work to the streets of Lisbon to treat injured or sick street cats and take control of colonies.
TNR is a way of keeping cat colonies under control. TNR is an acronym for Trap, Neuter and Release. By using TNR we keep the number of cats in the streets under control. An unsterilized female cat can have up to two litters per year, and 3-5 kittens per litter. This has saved many kittens from being born in the streets.
